About the position

The Chief of Staff at Central Health plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission to improve the health and well-being of Travis County residents. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position involves strategic leadership, executive support, and cross-functional collaboration to develop and execute innovative strategies for a sustainable and effective integrated healthcare system. The Chief of Staff will oversee various departments, drive organizational priorities, and enhance patient-centered care while addressing social determinants of health and reducing health disparities. This role also includes responsibilities in strategic planning, operational management, and building partnerships across sectors to support philanthropic initiatives and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to assigned teams, ensuring alignment with the healthcare system's strategic plan.
  • Act as a principal advisor to the CEO, supporting decision-making processes and managing high-priority projects.
  • Foster collaboration between departments to ensure a unified approach to organizational objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Strategic Officer to implement strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure the health system attracts, develops, and retains top talent, fostering a positive organizational culture.
  • Ensure financial operations align with the health system's goals, participating in cost management and revenue enhancement strategies.
  • Drive improvements in clinical operations and patient outcomes, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Develop and execute internal and external communication strategies that promote the health system's vision and values.
  • Ensure information technology and infrastructure support administrative and clinical operations effectively.
  • Collaborate with government relations to manage relationships with agencies and advocate for legislative priorities.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen philanthropic efforts and community relationships, overseeing fundraising strategies and outreach programs.
  • Drive process improvement across departments, fostering a culture of accountability and efficiency.
  • Support the CEO in preparing for Board of Directors meetings and ensuring governance policies are adhered to.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives, ensuring timely execution and successful outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or related field.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience, including five (5) years in a strategic C-level role.
  • Experience in a public entity setting is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills.
  • Proven ability to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
