About the position

The Chief of Staff to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at DaVita plays a crucial role in supporting the COO and the Palmer team by driving strategic planning, management processes, and business communications. This position involves synthesizing information to aid decision-making, facilitating leadership alignment, and effectively communicating operational strategies across the organization. The role is hybrid, based in Denver, and requires a proactive approach to improving healthcare systems through collaboration and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Operating Officer in crafting and executing on strategic initiatives.
  • Organize core operating efforts and drive collaboration across lanes.
  • Support internal/external communication by helping to craft and deliver key messages.
  • Highlight management process gaps or improvement opportunities, then implement solutions.
  • Lead critical projects working across multiple service lanes; monitor metrics, track progress of initiatives, and prepare presentations for senior leadership.
  • Collaborate across teams to perform analyses and synthesize results.
  • Support in the development and improvement of a top performing operations leadership team.
  • Work across operational and innovation teams to advance best-in-class capabilities in the market.
  • Regularly apprise the COO of project status and variations from schedule or scope.
  • Manage and drive strategic and operational initiatives in collaboration with other teams.
  • Structure ambiguous problems into clear workstreams and drive execution.
  • Develop and communicate project scope, timeline, plan, resource requirements, and assumptions.
  • Create, implement, and drive adoption of processes and solutions to further clinical and business outcomes.
  • Communicate project status updates and needs to senior leadership; prepare, report, and manage against targets/goals including scope, schedule, metrics, and revenue.
  • Scope, plan and execute multiple, often quick-turnaround projects with minimal assistance.
  • Design, implement and administer operating strategies - with an ability to allocate resources and time in a manner commensurate with expected value.
  • Present ideas for special projects that might facilitate the COO's/leadership's objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA or graduate degree preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a strategic or operational leadership role.
  • A minimum of 2 years of project management experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
  • Prior experience in healthcare services and/or working with payors, physician networks, value-based care models, and/or integrated care models preferred.
