About the position

The Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital is responsible for managing the hospital to ensure high-quality veterinary care, exceptional client service, and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team. This role involves advocating for pets, building relationships with clients, and educating both clients and associates on pet health. The Chief of Staff collaborates with the Practice Manager to operate an effective veterinary team and improve the hospital's medical quality and business performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the hospital to ensure high-quality veterinary care and exceptional client service.
  • Train and supervise associates to ensure compliance with Banfield guidelines and practices.
  • Oversee client education about wellness plans and resolve client issues effectively.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and formulate solutions to improve medical operations.
  • Partner with the Medical Director and Practice Manager to interview, select, train, and mentor hospital associates.
  • Create and maintain veterinarians' schedules to meet client needs and ensure compliance with Banfield guidelines.
  • Act as a communications liaison, holding routine team meetings and sharing business information with associates.
  • Develop annual planning, budgeting, and productivity levels for the hospital in partnership with the Practice Manager and other leaders.
  • Participate in market-level teams and initiatives to execute market objectives and strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all practice policies and local, state, and federal laws.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure with the applicable state veterinary board.
  • Two years of clinical experience required.
  • 1-3 years of coaching and developing associate doctors required.
  • Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries and use standard medical instruments and equipment.
