About the position

The Chief of Staff is a senior management-level position at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, a prominent organization dedicated to promoting and protecting civil and human rights in America. This role is pivotal in supporting the President & CEO in a dynamic, fast-paced, and high-stakes environment. The Chief of Staff will work closely with the President & CEO to manage the Senior Staff and oversee the operations of the Office of the President & CEO. This includes ensuring that priorities and strategic agendas are effectively tracked, met, and reported. The Chief of Staff may also represent the President & CEO at various internal and external meetings, making this a highly visible and influential position within the organization. In this role, the Chief of Staff will be responsible for direct support to the President & CEO, which includes effective tracking and reporting of priorities and strategic agendas. The Chief of Staff will guide and support collaboration among the Senior Leadership Team, strategically manage the President & CEO's time, and act as a gatekeeper to the President & CEO's availability. Additionally, the Chief of Staff will prepare the President & CEO for meetings and speeches, support the cultivation of new relationships, and serve as a liaison between staff and the President & CEO, ensuring that the President is well-informed about the organizational culture. The Chief of Staff will also play a crucial role in organizational strategic planning by supporting the Senior Leadership Team in determining organizational strategies, managing large cross-functional projects, and working with the President & CEO to set strategic priorities. This position requires a detail-oriented and data-driven approach, as well as the ability to assess the efficacy of current processes and perform other related duties as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective tracking and reporting of priorities and strategic agenda to the President & CEO.
  • Guide and support collaboration of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Strategically manage the President & CEO's time.
  • Act as gatekeeper to the President & CEO's availability.
  • Prepare the President & CEO for meetings and speeches.
  • Support the cultivation of new relationships.
  • Create and edit acknowledgment letters and other communications from the President & CEO.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff and the President & CEO.
  • Keep the President & CEO informed about organizational culture.
  • Support collaboration of the Senior Leadership Team in determining organizational strategies.
  • Ensure effective tracking and reporting of strategic initiatives.
  • Manage large cross-functional projects.
  • Work with the President & CEO to set strategic priorities.
  • Assess efficacy of current processes.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and related.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in a leadership/management role.
  • Commitment to The Leadership Conference mission.
  • Experience in strategy building and program implementation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and data-driven.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet research skills.
