About the position

The Chief of Staff at Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the organization. This position involves close collaboration with the President & CEO to manage organizational priorities, streamline operations, and drive strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and exceptional communicator, committed to GLI's mission of enhancing the regional economy and supporting local businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the President & CEO by leading strategic projects and implementing organizational strategies.
  • Interacts with staff on behalf of the President & CEO, handling internal issues and scheduling meetings.
  • Prepares for and coordinates internal meetings, documenting key topics and action items.
  • Represents the President & CEO in external meetings and events when unavailable.
  • Supports fundraising efforts and builds relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provides counsel on various issues and helps make informed decisions.
  • Gathers and analyzes information for administrative reporting and prepares necessary reports.
  • Manages the Executive Assistant to coordinate routine correspondence and meeting logistics.
  • Proofreads documents for external distribution.
  • Ensures clear and effective communication between the CEO, Board, and senior leaders.
  • Oversees board administration and governance processes.
  • Assists in the preparation and execution of Board meetings.
  • Manages HR functions and financial management with the VP of Finance & Administration.
  • Monitors contracts requiring CEO signatures and maintains signed contract files.
  • Ensures effective deployment of administrative capacity throughout the organization.
  • Helps implement the organization's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10 years of administrative support experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a senior management or leadership role, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to identify untapped revenue streams and develop strategic initiatives.
  • Solid knowledge of office processes and business policy development.
  • Proven interpersonal skills in a high-profile environment.
