About the position

The Chief of Staff at Maya Chia will serve as a key partner to the CEO, executing high-priority projects in a hands-on way, and ensuring operational excellence across the board. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized individual to streamline activities and manage complex projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the beauty and wellness industry, particularly regarding skin and hair care. Experience in adjacent industries like apparel, cosmetics, or other luxury consumer products is also valuable. In this position, you will be responsible for setting and executing company strategy alongside the CEO, designing and implementing operational plans to achieve the company's priorities, and monitoring progress on key initiatives while reporting on performance metrics. You will optimize internal workflows to improve efficiency and productivity, identify opportunities for operational improvement, conduct analysis, and implement solutions. As a project manager, you will lead special projects from conception to completion across marketing, sales, and operations, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. This includes developing project plans, timelines, and budgets, managing resources, and conducting research to provide insights that support project development and execution. You will also act as a liaison between the CEO and employees, clients, and external stakeholders, preparing and delivering reports, presentations, and updates to the leadership team while handling confidential information with utmost discretion and professionalism. Additionally, you will provide support during critical decision-making processes, mentor and guide junior staff, assist in talent acquisition and development, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Be a right-hand partner to the CEO, setting high-level company strategy with an ability to roll up your sleeves and execute.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced, strategy & operations role, preferably within the beauty, wellness, or consumer goods industry.
  • Relevant experience transferable from other industries (e.g., consulting, internal strategy) also accepted.
  • Experience executing digital marketing and growth initiatives, including familiarity with earned media platforms, paid media campaigns, email CRMs, and affiliate strategy.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and driving organizational change.
  • Strong understanding of the skin and haircare market, including trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment of changing priorities.
  • Experience in data analysis and budget management.
  • Proficiency in project management and retail software such as Shopify, Quickbooks, Asana, and Adobe Illustrator.
