About the position

The Chief of Staff is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations at Council 4, supervising staff across various departments, and acting as an advisor to the Executive Director. This role involves leadership support, strategic initiative participation, and ensuring effective communication and decision-making within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership support to the Executive Director and Leadership Team.
  • Supervise staff and departments as assigned, including training, assignments, and discipline.
  • Analyze logistics processes and operations, identifying opportunities for improvement and developing policies and procedures.
  • Act as an advisor to the Executive Director as part of the Leadership team.
  • Assist the Executive Director in facilitating effective decision-making.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Executive Director to discuss potential staffing issues.
  • Assess inquiries directed to the Executive Director, determine the proper course of action, and delegate to the appropriate individual.
  • Ensure staff issues are addressed properly, efficiently, and judiciously, tracking progress until resolved.
  • Oversee budget and membership data/systems.
  • Manage communications and information flow.
  • Complete weekly and monthly reports to Leadership and membership as assigned.
  • Support Council functions according to circumstances and needs.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives by leading them and reporting results back to the Executive Director.
  • May act as a representative of the Executive Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Leadership/Management/Labor Relations.
  • Experience managing teams/departments.
  • Experience in project planning and operational support for an organization.
  • Financial, Communications, Political and Legislative, and Human Resources background needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Higher Education degree(s) preferred.
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment.
