About the position

The Chief of Staff will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and will act as a strategic partner and right-hand to the CTO, enabling the successful execution of the technology strategy across the organization. This role is critical in supporting the CTO by managing day-to-day operations, driving key initiatives, ensuring cross-functional alignment, and helping to set and monitor goals for the technology team. In terms of strategic planning and execution, the Chief of Staff will assist the CTO in the development and implementation of the technology strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall objectives. They will drive the execution of key initiatives and projects, ensuring timelines and goals are met, while also monitoring progress against these goals and providing regular updates to the CTO and other stakeholders. Operational management is another key aspect of this role. The Chief of Staff will manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of the CTO, including coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and ensuring follow-ups. They will serve as a point of contact between the CTO and internal/external stakeholders, managing communications and ensuring timely responses. Additionally, they will oversee budget planning and management for the technology department, working closely with finance and operations teams. Cross-functional leadership is essential, as the Chief of Staff will facilitate communication and collaboration across departments to ensure alignment with the technology strategy. They will lead cross-functional projects and initiatives on behalf of the CTO, ensuring successful execution, and act as a liaison between the technology team and other departments to address challenges, resolve conflicts, and ensure a cohesive approach. In terms of advisory and support, the Chief of Staff will provide the CTO with insights and recommendations on key issues and decisions. They will prepare presentations, reports, and other materials for executive meetings and board presentations, and conduct research and analysis on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making. Finally, team leadership and development are crucial components of this role. The Chief of Staff will mentor and guide members of the technology team, helping to develop their skills and careers. They will assist in recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top talent for the technology department, fostering a positive, inclusive, and innovative culture within the technology team.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years in a leadership or strategic role, with a focus on technology, operations, or consulting.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of technology trends and their impact on business strategy.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and data analysis software.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and able to anticipate the needs of the CTO and the technology team.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
