About the position

The Human Resources Manager for Timekeeping Operations at CUNY is responsible for overseeing the timekeeping functions for various staff categories, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and enhancing operational efficiency. This role involves managing a team of timekeepers, facilitating the transition to digital timekeeping systems, and serving as a liaison with other departments and external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the team handling employee timekeeping for full-time teaching and non-teaching instructional staff.
  • Maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the HR Timekeeping function.
  • Assist employees with access to timekeeping systems and resolve related questions.
  • Oversee data entry of time and leave actions and conduct daily audit reviews.
  • Facilitate the transition to digital timekeeping and implement new software.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements for HR processes.
  • Train staff and the college community on timekeeping systems and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Payroll and Benefit Offices regarding employee status changes.
  • Maintain data integrity within HR timekeeping systems and prepare for audits.
  • Act as a liaison with IT teams and external vendors for system issues and requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required or Master's degree plus four years' related experience.
  • Experience working in a Higher Education setting in Human Resources.
  • High-level expertise with timekeeping functions and collective bargaining contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team.
  • Familiarity with New York City, New York State, and Federal time and leave policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Workers' Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act, and Paid Family Leave policies.
