About the position

The Chief of Staff (CoS) at Lumen is a pivotal role designed to support the Senior Executive in executing defined priorities effectively. This position requires a motivated and adaptable individual who can act as a strategic advisor, problem solver, communicator, and facilitator within the organization. The CoS will work closely with the Senior Executive to identify key focus areas and streamline activities, ensuring that the executive is well-prepared for all meetings and engagements. This role also involves partnering with the Executive Assistant to manage the executive's time strategically, aligning it with both internal and external priorities. In this influential position, the Chief of Staff will help foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation. Responsibilities include defining and executing meeting agendas, ensuring thorough preparation for meetings, partnering with HR on workforce planning, leading strategic initiatives, resolving conflicts, providing coaching to direct reports, and monitoring organizational performance against goals. The CoS will also coordinate employee recognition efforts and manage organizational objectives, making this role integral to the success of the leadership team and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute direct and extended staff meeting agendas, including town halls and management meetings.
  • Ensure the Executive is thoroughly prepared for all external and large internal meetings, managing necessary prep calls and consolidating prep information.
  • Partner with HR on workforce planning, location strategy, org structure management, and people metrics.
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives and projects that span across the organization or involve multiple departments or functions.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts that arise within the organization or affect the leader's agenda.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to the leader's direct reports and other staff members.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and progress of the organization and the leader's goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage organizational goals & objectives.
  • Coordinate employee recognition and culture efforts.
  • Partner with Executive Assistant to coordinate Executive's time aligned to internal and external priorities.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of success in an operational role where executive priorities are translated into actionable plans that can be tracked.
  • Executive presence and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder management situations.
  • Attention to detail across a broad range of contexts and topics.
  • Experience with Business Operations and Planning, Business Transformation and/or Management Consulting is a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Advanced PowerPoint, Excel, and Word skills.
