About the position

The Chief of Staff (COS) at USRowing is a strategic role designed to support the CEO in prioritizing key initiatives and ensuring effective communication and project management across the organization. This position involves overseeing organizational processes, managing communications, and representing the CEO in various meetings, making it essential for driving alignment and accountability within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CEO to prioritize key initiatives, enabling focus on high-impact areas.
  • Field and manage a large volume of communications, ensuring the CEO's time is focused on critical matters.
  • Oversee projects across departments to ensure alignment with USRowing's objectives and mission.
  • Lead the organization's Monthly Operating Review and manage the OKR process for cross-functional alignment and accountability.
  • Represent the CEO in meetings and respond to stakeholders when necessary, maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to manage communication, organize meetings, and track action items.
  • Manage a fractional administrative assistant responsible for calendar and travel management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a leadership, operations, or Chief of Staff role within a complex, mission-driven organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience driving high-level initiatives across departments, ensuring coordination and alignment.
  • Commitment to quality output, attention to detail, and representation of USRowing.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and adjust to shifting priorities quickly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sports administration or working with national governing bodies.
  • Knowledge of rowing, or a strong passion for athletics and sports governance.
  • Experience with OKRs or performance management systems.
