About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Ascension Medical Group Indiana is responsible for formulating and overseeing the organization's planning, policies, and practices in collaboration with executive leadership. This role involves developing and implementing operating budgets, maintaining knowledge of industry trends, and serving as a liaison between various stakeholders. The COO will also contribute to the development of a regionally integrated system of care and ensure a culture of quality and safety within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and oversee the organization's planning, policies, and practices in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Participate in the development of the organization's vision, policies, and short and long-term objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operating budgets for areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and recommend cost-effective and efficient solutions.
  • Serve as liaison between Board of Directors, executive leadership, management, stakeholders, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies.
  • Contribute to the development of a regionally integrated system of care and successfully perform the requirements of the position with a matrixed work environment.
  • Create a sustainable person-centered culture that assures patients can access the care needed and when they want it.
  • Develop provider leadership structure aligned with the national Ascension Medical Group structure.
  • Lead efforts to create a culture of quality and safety consistent with a highly reliable organization.
  • Ensure development of physician leaders including development and preparation of the next generation of physician leaders.
  • Provide ongoing education to medical staff leadership regarding administrative, regulatory, and legal issues surrounding healthcare reform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required, with 5 of those years being in leadership/management.
