About the position

The position is responsible for managing and directing the overall operations of a specialty hospital, ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services. The role involves providing leadership to achieve strategic objectives, enforcing policies, and overseeing clinical and nursing departments to meet the needs of critically ill patients. The individual will work towards advancing quality initiatives and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct overall hospital operations, including clinical, ancillary, and support departments.
  • Provide leadership to ensure strategic objectives are met and quality healthcare services are delivered.
  • Initiate and enforce organization-wide policies and procedures to support hospital objectives.
  • Oversee the organization of nursing and clinical departments according to guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, organizational, and medical staff standards.
  • Establish and implement Standards of Nursing Practice and manage clinical operations and financial matters.
  • Promote a culture of safety and encourage employees to identify safety issues.
  • Develop, interpret, and communicate hospital policies and operational procedures to department managers.
  • Contribute to and lead initiatives outlined in the Strategic Quality Plan.
  • Maintain a system to verify licensure, certification, and competency of nursing staff.
  • Serve on the Hospital Quality Council and represent nursing services in various committees.
  • Develop and monitor the hospital budget, ensuring operations stay within approved limits.
  • Respond to community needs for quality healthcare services in collaboration with hospital leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, or clinical specialty required.
  • Registered Nurse license in the state required.
  • Five years of experience in healthcare administration/management, with at least two years in senior nursing management in a hospital setting.
  • Two years of prior COO or CEO level experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate level education may substitute for required experience on a year-to-year basis.
