About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) is a key leadership role responsible for driving operational and programmatic excellence across the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will shape the strategic direction of BBBSMA, enhance program impact, and foster a culture that supports the mission of empowering Atlanta's youth. This position offers the opportunity to influence growth, innovation, and effectiveness in supporting youth across Metro Atlanta.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO to set and implement operational strategies that drive BBBSMA's long-term mission and goals.
  • Ensure excellence in program delivery, evaluation, and IT strategy with a focus on data-driven decision-making and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the sustainability and expansion of BBBSMA's Level Up program, strengthening relationships with Atlanta and DeKalb Public Schools and cultivating partnerships with additional school systems.
  • Build and nurture strategic relationships with community partners, funders, and stakeholders to expand program reach.
  • Oversee budgeting and resource management for Program Services and IT, ensuring sound financial practices and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation across program and IT functions, safeguarding BBBSMA's resources and reputation.
  • Mentor department heads and staff, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and mission alignment within Program Services and IT.
  • Champion Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) values across BBBSMA's culture and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Social Sciences, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 15+ years of professional experience, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles within a nonprofit or human services organization.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Salesforce CRM is required to enhance program tracking, data analytics, and operational processes across the organization.
  • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and program management.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders and to build strong relationships with diverse partners.
  • Experience with budget management, resource allocation, and data analysis to support financial sustainability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole is a plus, but not required.
