About the position

DrBalcony is seeking a visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee daily operations and drive strategic growth in the civil engineering industry. The COO will play a critical role in aligning operational activities with business goals, enhancing customer satisfaction, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions. This position is ideal for an experienced operations leader with a strong background in scaling start-ups or growing companies in the civil engineering or construction sector.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and ensure smooth, efficient, and scalable processes across all departments, including engineering, project management, and customer relations.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and profitability while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Work closely with the CEO and executive team to define the company s strategic direction and ensure operational alignment with business goals.
• Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring that the company is prepared for future challenges.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operations, including supply chain management, project execution, and customer service.
• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with the CFO to manage budgets, control costs, and ensure financial efficiency in operations.
• Oversee hiring, training, and development of key personnel to build a strong and capable workforce.
• Manage relationships with key partners, suppliers, and clients, ensuring satisfaction and operational excellence.
• Support business development initiatives by streamlining operations to accommodate growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in operations or a similar leadership role, with at least 5+ years in a senior management position in the civil engineering, construction, or related industries.
• Proven experience in scaling start-ups or rapidly growing companies.
• Strong understanding of operational processes, project management, and supply chain management.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate, and manage cross-functional teams.
• Strategic thinker with a track record of implementing operational strategies that drive growth and profitability.
• Experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and ensuring financial efficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with executives, employees, and external partners.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment.
