About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) oversees the daily operations and strategic planning of the brand. They are responsible for improving operational efficiency, enhancing the guest experience, and ensuring the menu, food development, and food safety practices are of the highest standard to remain competitive in the market. The COO also fosters a culture of professional development and tenure within the organization, analyzing data and metrics to advance the strategic plan. This position reports directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Drives profitable growth and ensures long-term vitality of the business via strategy and effective management.
  • Sets, recommends, and implements business strategy, short- and long-term objectives and goals; develops, presents, and accomplishes approved annual plan and provides leadership for the management team.
  • Manages profitable and effective operations, strategies, and initiatives to ensure financial success.
  • Establishes effective business model and organization structure to deliver results for the business.
  • Develops both short- and long-term strategies that move the business to desired profit and competitive state.
  • Ensures short-term and long-term implementation plans are in place and executed to support strategy.
  • Collaborates closely with other members of the senior management team to oversee business operations.
  • Responsible for the operations and cash flow of the business.
  • Ensures company has systems and controls, policy and processes are in place to achieve regulatory requirements including financial, operating, technology, etc.
  • Leads recruiting and retention strategies to match business needs; enables training, coaching, development, and direction for employees.
  • Builds and maintains key relationships with team members, management team, community, and industry to ensure effective market positioning.
  • Conducts thorough high impact restaurant visits to ensure alignment towards key business objectives.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in an Executive/Senior Management role, preferably in the restaurant industry as a Senior VP of Ops or COO.
  • Experience in Full Service, Buffets, or High-Volume Institutional Contract Services.
  • Ability and desire to build community relations and promote business growth.
  • Superior working knowledge of industry financials including sales, product costs, and labor management.
  • Excellent people and communication skills with a strong guest-oriented philosophy.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and develop solutions to unique challenges.
  • Ability to train and develop employees in technical and interpersonal skills.
