About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for MercyOne Davenport is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of a 502-bed medical center, overseeing a large team of physicians, staff, and volunteers. The COO plays a critical role in providing executive leadership, operational direction, and performance management, ensuring the integration of operations to achieve efficiency and cost savings. This position fosters a culture of excellence in care and operational efficiency while collaborating with various executives to meet strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day operations of the health system's largest entity.
  • Provide executive leadership and operational direction for the assigned region.
  • Develop and implement integration of operations to achieve goals focused on efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Collaborate with executives in various departments including Physician Operations, Strategy, Finance, and Human Resources.
  • Foster an environment that promotes excellence in care experience and operational efficiencies.
  • Champion change and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop the senior leadership team, fostering high performance and collaboration.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and organizational integrity standards.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Health Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of leadership experience in healthcare management.
  • Experience as a senior leader or executive in an integrated healthcare delivery entity.
  • Advanced business and executive leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of current healthcare trends and practices.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
