About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee all programs and operations at ICL, ensuring seamless integration and maximizing impact. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the COO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and play a pivotal role in advancing and shaping the strategic direction and growth of the organization. The COO will collaborate closely with the CEO and the Executive Team to formulate and execute long-term strategic goals. They will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of services, driving ICL's mission to enhance mental health and well-being for the communities and clients it serves. In this role, the COO will provide overall supervision, leadership, and direction to ICL programs. They will collaborate with the executive team to ensure communication, coordination, and active support between administrative and programmatic functions. The COO will lead, develop, and mentor a diverse team of staff, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. They will focus on skill-building initiatives by providing ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance staff competencies and career growth. The COO will identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement in the delivery of services, while also addressing policy, process, and systems barriers to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The COO will partner with the CEO to lead the strategic expansion of programs, identifying opportunities for growth that align with evolving client needs. They will utilize data-driven insights and stakeholder feedback to inform program enhancements and innovations, ensuring the highest standards of service and quality care. The COO will oversee program operations, including strategic and annual planning, budget oversight, and the implementation of a whole person health care model. Additionally, the COO will be responsible for managing external relations and fostering strategic partnerships. They will build networks and coalitions with the broader community, government agencies, funders, and external partners. The COO will develop relationships with Managed Care organizations to position ICL to thrive in a value-based environment, serving as a steward of culture and partnering with the Chief Development & External Affairs Officer regarding fundraising activities, grant applications, and donor relations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall supervision, leadership, and direction to ICL programs.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to ensure communication, coordination, and active support between administrative and programmatic functions.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a diverse team of staff, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement in the delivery of services.
  • Ensure the implementation and adherence to trauma-informed and person-centered care principles.
  • Partner with the CEO to lead the strategic expansion of programs, identifying opportunities for growth that align with evolving client needs.
  • Oversee program operations including strategic and annual planning, budget oversight, and quality assurance.
  • Develop, implement, integrate, and assess programs to ensure they are aligned with strategic goals and priorities.
  • Monitor industry trends and adapt strategies to maintain organizational relevance and effectiveness.
  • Build networks, beneficial partnerships, and coalitions with the broader community, government agencies, and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in business, healthcare administration or similar preferred.
  • A proven track record with 10 plus years of nonprofit executive management or related experience in the behavioral health field, housing, and shelters.
  • Experience running programs, assessments, integration, and quality improvement to yield greater impact with client-focused results.
  • Operational experience within integrated services, care coordination, clinics/treatment, supportive housing, treatment apartment program, and shelters.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license preferred.
