About the position

MU Health Care is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Hospital Services to lead operations across multiple locations and clinical service lines. This role involves driving strategic initiatives, optimizing processes, and ensuring high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance. The COO will collaborate with nursing and physician leaders to develop innovative strategies, manage performance improvement initiatives, and oversee transformative changes in healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and elevate operations across multiple locations and clinical service lines.
  • Collaborate with the Health System COO to drive strategic initiatives and optimize processes.
  • Oversee short- and long-term operational, quality, and financial goals for assigned locations.
  • Serve as a trusted operating partner and advisor to the Health System COO.
  • Gather data and assess opportunities for improvement in clinical and administrative operations.
  • Develop and communicate a strategic roadmap outlining goals and actionable steps for future state.
  • Establish organizational structure and resource allocation to align with long-term vision.
  • Provide direction in planning for physical facilities and equipment to meet patient and provider needs.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and clinical teams to gain support for proposed changes.
  • Communicate progress and recommendations effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Guide the COO in mitigating risks and ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop and implement change management strategies for new processes and technologies.
  • Drive performance improvement initiatives to produce timely and budget-compliant results.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of changes and make necessary adjustments.
  • Manage organizational change through clear communication of vision and expectations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in health administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in healthcare operations at the management level.
