About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston (JFGH) will oversee operations, financials, human resources, information technology, and compliance. This leadership role is crucial for building, implementing, and managing the organization's processes and workflows, enabling the CEO to focus on strategic initiatives. The COO will work closely with other senior leaders to ensure effective operational management and fiscal accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement operational policies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Establish and administer an adequate structure for effective administrative operations (Finance, HR, IT).
  • Analyze operations data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions.
  • Oversee the development and submission of the annual operating budget.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced Accounting, HR, and IT vendors.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, coordinating legal review as necessary.
  • Conduct salary surveys and research to assess market trends for compensation administration.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Finance Committee, interpreting financial results.
  • Summarize critical financial matters and keep the CEO informed on issues.
  • Coordinate effective processes with Houston Jewish Community Foundation regarding JFGH funds.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of work experience in progressively responsible roles.
  • Five or more years leading teams with indirect reports.
  • Strong operations and financial skills.
  • Ability to develop business processes and manage projects.
  • Excellence in organizational and people management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Stellar communication and public speaking skills.
  • Tech savvy with the ability to assess/implement technological improvements.
