Knox Community Hospital (KCH), an independent, not-for-profit hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join their senior leadership team. The COO will report to the CEO and will be responsible for developing and executing key strategies and leading operations of a growing health system focused on high reliability and quality care. KCH is a 99-bed, Joint Commission-accredited hospital offering a wide range of healthcare services and is committed to providing compassionate healthcare that exceeds community expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise leadership and management responsibilities to ensure efficient delivery of services that meet the needs of patients, medical staff, employees, and community.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with multiple stakeholder groups including administration, management, board of trustees, medical staff, hospital staff, healthcare partners, and community.
  • Contribute to the development of organizational strategic planning and participate significantly as a member of the senior administrative team.
  • Work with colleagues to evaluate performance and analyze trends affecting the organization, implementing approved strategies in response to identified needs.
  • Assume accountability for cost-effective utilization of resources while promoting safety, excellent clinical outcomes, and improved patient satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership on quality improvement, performance improvement, and patient safety programs.
  • Actively champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals and initiatives.
  • Successfully oversee and lead strategic operational and facilities development projects.
  • Work closely with the CEO on organizational imperatives such as succession planning and medical staff development.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a similar level of education in a healthcare-related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of success in operational management of an acute care hospital.
  • Demonstrated experience and success with process improvement, compliance, regulatory, and quality-of-care efforts.
