About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Center for Family Life (CFL) in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, is a newly created full-time position responsible for overseeing the operational and administrative health of the organization. Reporting directly to the executive director, the COO will develop a strategic plan for operations and manage day-to-day activities to ensure effective service delivery to the community. The role requires collaboration with staff at all levels and a focus on flexibility, proactivity, and resourcefulness to support CFL's long-term objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strategic plan for operations and oversee day-to-day operations across the organization.
• Interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment.
• Ensure effective functioning of operations including Human Resources, Information Technology, Data Management, Facilities, Risk Management, and Funder Audits.
• Assess existing operational systems in various departments and partner with staff to improve them.
• Lead the organization through a significant leadership transition from co-executive directors to a single executive director.
• Develop and implement operational systems organization-wide to ensure smooth operations.
• Create an evaluation and assessment strategy to document and measure the impacts of CFL programs.
• Promote cross-departmental collaboration and efficiencies in operations.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior operational role, preferably in a non-profit or social service organization.
• Strong leadership and management skills with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic operational plans.
• Experience in assessing and improving operational systems and processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse staff and stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in human services or community-based organizations.
• Familiarity with budget management and financial oversight.
• Knowledge of data management systems and evaluation strategies.
