About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Oregon Lottery is responsible for leading the vision, strategy, and operational roadmap for the gaming operations functions of a $17 billion business. This role involves optimizing organizational performance, managing senior leaders, and ensuring effective operationalization of strategies that contribute to nearly $1 billion in annual transfers to the state. The COO will work closely with the executive leadership team and is expected to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance across a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for gaming operations functions.
  • Optimize the delivery of nearly $1 billion in annual transfers to the state of Oregon.
  • Manage senior leaders and drive cross-functional operations.
  • Refine, design, and integrate organization-wide systems and processes.
  • Ensure optimum performance of gaming operations through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams of leaders managing other leaders.

Requirements

  • Graduate Degree and nine years of experience in strategic planning, operations management, or strategic financial planning and reporting, with five years in senior management; OR fourteen years of experience in the same fields with five years in senior management.
  • Experience leading a senior leadership team in a large organization, preferably at the VP or chief level.
  • Proven success in managing product and retailer relationships to generate revenue.

Nice-to-haves

  • Operations leadership experience in the gaming industry or comparable private industry experience.
  • Experience leading a distributed organization of remote, hybrid, and in-office workers.
  • Transformational leadership experience with a focus on system-level change.
