About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Advanced Vehicle Assemblies (AVA) is a key executive role responsible for developing and implementing the operations strategy of the organization. The COO will work closely with the CEO and the executive leadership team to achieve strategic goals and ensure high performance across the company's operations. This position requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in operational management, creative problem-solving, and change management, particularly in a high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the CEO and executive leadership team on operations planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.
  • Contribute to the development of AVA's strategic goals and objectives and manage the organization effectively.
  • Maintain continuous communication with the CEO regarding critical issues.
  • Represent the organization externally as necessary.
  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the operations teams.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.
  • Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, and conduct annual performance appraisals.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.
  • Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process.
  • Provide analytical support to AVA's internal management team, including the development of internal management reporting capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is mandatory; a master's in business administration is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in an executive management role.
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching experience with a diverse team.
  • Superior management skills with the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results-oriented.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical operations initiatives.
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical and strategic thinker.
