About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the overall management and operational effectiveness of the hospital, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals related to patient safety, quality, service, and financial performance. The COO works closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is accountable for directing various departments, fostering a safe and efficient clinical culture, and maintaining accreditation standards. This role requires strategic planning and community engagement to enhance the hospital's relevance and operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve performance objectives related to patient safety, quality, service, and financial performance.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and maintain readiness for regulatory surveys.
  • Improve employee, medical staff, and patient engagement and loyalty.
  • Develop a cost-effective operating culture that meets financial performance objectives.
  • Participate in strategic planning to enhance the hospital's role in the community.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across departments and the healthcare system.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or a relevant field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in senior-level roles within a healthcare facility.
  • Prior experience as a CEO of a Critical Access Hospital, CNO, or other senior hospital leadership role.
