About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center is responsible for overseeing clinical and administrative operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and implementing strategic business plans. The COO plays a critical role in fostering a positive organizational culture, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This position also acts as a key liaison between hospital departments and external entities, driving operational strategies to meet community healthcare needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative direction for hospital operations.
  • Assist and advise the President/CEO in implementing hospital policies and strategic business plans.
  • Assume responsibilities of the CEO in their absence and represent the hospital at external meetings.
  • Collaborate with leadership from the governing board, management, and medical staff to achieve operational strategies.
  • Develop and implement the organization plan for patient care and scope of services.
  • Create a strong customer service orientation to improve relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and TJC Standards.
  • Participate in facility planning and evaluation of new programs.
  • Promote appropriate utilization of services through business development.
  • Provide expertise to physicians on developing affiliated group practices and operational issues related to managed care.
  • Implement managed care contracting strategies to increase patient/payor satisfaction.
  • Coordinate clinical process management and clinical case management activities.
  • Implement ongoing programs to measure and improve the quality of patient care.
  • Organize functions in areas of responsibility through effective design and delegation.
  • Monitor productivity and improve through consolidation and delegation of functions.
  • Oversee management of contracted services and conduct cost-benefit analysis.
  • Coordinate financial management activities with the CFO, including budget development and variance analysis.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in healthcare administration or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years administrative management experience.
