About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization, reporting directly to the CEO. This role involves providing leadership in strategic planning and implementing initiatives across various departments including Operations, Program Services, Finance, and Human Resources. The COO leads an executive management team and regularly updates the Board of Directors on key initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of organizational infrastructure to achieve operational goals.
• Evaluate overall program effectiveness and recommend modifications to improve performance.
• Support board committees as assigned.
• Coordinate agency budget development and monitor variances in revenues and expenditures.
• Manage administrative and operational processes, including maintenance of facilities.
• Oversee the performance of assigned directors and staff, providing technical assistance as needed.
• Plan and implement staff development and training programs.
• Develop collaborative partnerships with youth-serving organizations and community groups.
• Participate in public relations activities to maintain good relations for Club programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• A minimum of five years operations management and supervision experience in a nonprofit agency, with at least two years at the Unit Director level, or equivalent experience.
• Considerable knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs.
• Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, and coordinate operations and personnel supervision.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, Board members, and community groups.
