About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of agency services and programs within a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the independent living of older adults in Guilford County. The COO will play a critical role in driving strategy for future growth, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring operational integrity across all services. This position requires exceptional leadership and communication skills, along with a strong commitment to equity and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Plays a critical role in the visioning, planning, execution, and oversight of all strategic initiatives and is responsible for communication of the plan to all stakeholders.
  • Works with Board members, Committees, donors, volunteers, staff, and community-based organizations.
  • Responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the organization.
  • Responsible for the effective management of staff, volunteers, and operations.
  • Serves as a spokesperson and advocate for the organization.
  • Ensures the integrity of all programs and operations to provide high-quality service, effective and cost-efficient management of resources, and compliance.
  • Develops annual plans for each area of responsibility including strategies, objectives, timelines, budgets, required resources, and key performance indicators.
  • Works with program managers to collect and analyze data.
  • Supervises staff, assures that sound human resource practices are maintained, creates a positive working environment, and resolves issues regarding compliance and regulations.
  • Works collaboratively with public and private sector community organizations and programs.
  • Serves as a representative in the community.
  • Collaborates with the executive team and program managers in developing program-specific budgets and identifying potential funding opportunities.
  • Establishes and monitors specific outcomes for programs, makes modifications as needed, and reports to the CEO, Board, and relevant Committees.
  • Assesses client satisfaction to assure needs are being addressed.
  • Works with the team to develop strategies to reach and engage greater numbers of older adults.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5-10 years of executive level experience.
  • Exceptional leadership presence, nonprofit business acumen, and communication skills.
  • Exhibited history of excellent integrity with a mindset toward equity and innovation.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $80,000 - $90,000.
