About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Apex Pavers & Pools will play a crucial role in leading the company's operational functions and driving its growth from $25M to $100M in revenue. This position requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in the construction industry, particularly in residential and commercial sectors, to implement scalable processes and ensure operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a long-term operational strategy to support the company's growth from $25M to $100M in revenue.
  • Oversee all day-to-day operations, including project management, supply chain, construction, and customer service.
  • Drive process improvements, implement operational efficiencies, and ensure quality control across all projects.
  • Create and execute scalable processes to support increased project volume and entering new market segments.
  • Partner with the CFO to manage budgets, control costs, and optimize profitability.
  • Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing operations team, including project managers and department heads.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges that could impact the business's growth and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive efficiency and enhance customer experience.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of operational initiatives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in operations management, focusing on residential and commercial construction.
  • Proven track record of successfully scaling a business from $25M to $100M+ in revenue.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of business operations, financial acumen, and strategic thinking about growth and profitability.
  • Hands-on experience with construction management, supply chain, logistics, and project management.
  • Demonstrated success in optimizing operations and implementing scalable processes.
  • Strong understanding of P&L management, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
