About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at AMIA is responsible for leading strategic planning, operational management, product development, and revenue expansion. This role involves managing a team across various functions, ensuring operational efficiency, and translating strategy into actionable steps for growth. The COO will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to implement organization-wide systems and financial management, while also being a champion for the strategic plan and annual operating plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management guidance aligned with AMIA's mission and core values.
  • Drive AMIA to achieve and surpass financial goals including key performance indicators.
  • Spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies and efficient processes.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement plans for operational infrastructure designed to accommodate growth objectives.
  • Direct short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support strategic goals.
  • Support personnel actions by ensuring all HR and related functions are properly performed.
  • Translate complex financial concepts and goals to individuals at all levels.
  • Ensure legal protection of the organization by maintaining compliance with applicable laws and policies.

Requirements

  • College degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of member-focused non-profit organizations.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience directing operations and programs for a service-driven membership organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite required.
  • Experience with AMS or CMS software, Sage Financial Software, Fonteva, Salesforce.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, and development of teams.
  • High degree of awareness of the value, purpose, culture, and mission of not-for-profit organizations.
  • Experience in managing outside vendor interactions.
