About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the World Council of Credit Unions is a pivotal role responsible for providing comprehensive operational support to the CEO and ensuring the organization's day-to-day operations run smoothly. The COO will collaborate closely with the CEO to translate strategic initiatives into actionable plans, oversee various departments, and enhance operational efficiency. This position requires strong leadership skills and a focus on building an inclusive culture while managing relationships with stakeholders and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement
  • Implement business strategies and plans that align with short- and long-term objectives
  • Directly oversee operations, HR, legal and compliance, communications, and IT improvements
  • Oversee organizational operations and employee productivity, fostering an inclusive culture
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement shared services strategies aligned with company goals
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure shared services meet business requirements
  • Cultivate a strong relationship with the CEO and C-Suite team, providing updates on business aspects
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and standards
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with shared services operations
  • Collaborate with IT to integrate technology solutions that enhance service delivery.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in an executive or senior leadership role
  • Excellent leadership skills with personal integrity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues
  • Proven track record in managing complex operations in an international setting
  • Extensive experience in financial management, strategic planning, and operational excellence
  • Possesses executive presence and excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with USAID or other donor-funded international project implementation is a plus
  • Understanding of technology solutions, particularly Salesforce, is a plus
  • A master's degree in business, finance, economics, or international affairs is strongly preferred
  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or international affairs is required.
