About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at MEI Auto Group is responsible for overseeing the operational strategy and performance of the company's retail and service locations. This role focuses on driving growth, profitability, and operational efficiency while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction across all dealership and reconditioning operations. The COO will report directly to the President and is expected to lead a highly engaged team, manage financial oversight, and implement continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with the company's vision.

Responsibilities

  • Drive overall operational strategy, ensuring alignment with company vision, and foster a high-performing team culture across all locations.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across sales, service, inventory, and reconditioning to maximize efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage P&L, ensure accurate financial reporting, and consistently achieve financial targets by controlling costs and driving revenue.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and performance management for department managers, fostering communication between teams and corporate leadership.
  • Ensure exceptional customer experiences across all operations by resolving escalated issues and maintaining high standards for service quality.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process re-engineering and continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create and execute effective, cost-efficient advertising and merchandising strategies that drive dealership performance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of automotive industry experience in a senior management role, with a focus on dealership operations.
  • Proven success in leading high-volume, multi-location dealerships to year-over-year growth.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L management and operational reporting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to motivate, mentor, and coach a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
