The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Multnomah County is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the county's operations and ensuring effective administration, financial management, and operational consistency. Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct county operations in alignment with Multnomah County's values.
  • Provide strategic leadership to advance the mission of the county.
  • Guide and support senior leaders to ensure effective administration and operational consistency.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote equity and inclusion.
  • Implement the Workforce Equity Strategic Plan to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships and trust within the organization and the community.
  • Develop and implement strategies based on data-driven decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience.
  • Experience managing a sizable staff and overseeing labor relations.
  • Proven track record in policy development, strategic planning, and budgeting.
  • At least five years of experience working with elected officials.

Nice-to-haves
