The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for overseeing both Financial and Human Resources Management. This position requires a collaborative approach, particularly in working with the IT Consultant to ensure that all operational aspects align with the organization's strategic goals. The COO reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, providing essential support and guidance in managing the organization’s workforce and financial health. In the realm of Human Resources and Administration, the COO will take charge of recruiting and screening new employees, supporting the President/CEO in managing staff performance, and ensuring that internal controls and policies are effectively implemented. This role is crucial in fostering a positive workplace culture, promoting employee morale, and managing employee relations. The COO will also oversee the agency's insurance portfolio and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, serving as the lead for the Health and Safety Committee. Additionally, the COO will administer compensation and benefits, ensuring that the organization remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent. On the financial side, the COO will work closely with finance consultants and the staff accountant to ensure the accuracy and quality of all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and audits. This role involves preparing annual budgets and financial reports, contributing to strategic initiatives, and maintaining proper internal controls. The COO will also manage relationships with investment officers and ensure compliance with government regulations. In terms of Information Systems, the COO will provide oversight for the procurement and maintenance of all IT systems, ensuring that technology solutions effectively support the organization’s goals. This includes managing IT contractors and ensuring high-quality customer service in technology support. The COO will also be responsible for the availability and operational readiness of AV technology for meetings, as well as overseeing training and documentation related to technology use.
