About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a vital leadership role responsible for providing strategic vision and executive leadership to a premier manufacturing organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO will oversee operational, managerial, and administrative procedures, ensuring effective communication and fostering growth among the executive team and all employees. This role is crucial for driving results, enhancing efficiency, and implementing process improvements across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provides management to staff aligning with the company's business plan and overall strategic vision.
  • Works closely with the Leadership Team to create, implement, and communicate plans for strategies, operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems, and company policies.
  • Sets comprehensive goals for performance, growth, and profitability.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements process improvements, driving superior financial performance, efficiency, quality, production capacity, and overall continuous improvement efforts.
  • Fosters a growth-oriented, positive environment while keeping employees and management accountable.
  • Participates in corporate-level initiatives, including capital management, facilities expansion, merger & acquisition due diligence, and the integration of new equipment and business units.
  • Forges strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with company standards for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people.
  • Provides accurate and timely reports outlining the operational condition of the company.
  • Oversees major projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, business administration, operations management, or related field with 15 plus years of experience in manufacturing.
  • 5-10 years of executive-level operational experience is required.
  • Technical skills in materials and inventory management, production scheduling, and preventive maintenance are required.
  • Exceptional executive presence, business acumen, and presentation skills are required.
  • Strong capacity for systems thinking, vision, leadership, people development, strategic decision making, collaboration, and performance focus competencies are required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's of Business Administration or advanced engineering degree is preferred.
  • 5-10+ years at the COO level is preferred.
  • Leadership certifications, demonstrated project management, and Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques experience are strongly preferred.
