About the position

As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Front Steps, you will be a pivotal member of our leadership team, responsible for ensuring that our nonprofit organization operates efficiently and effectively. Your role will involve collaborating closely with the CEO to set and drive the organizational vision and operations strategy. You will be tasked with expanding our behavioral healthcare programs and ensuring that all operations align with our strategic goals. This position requires a strong leader who can approach the business side of our organization with creativity and innovation, while also maintaining a focus on compliance with national, statewide, and local standards. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of Front Steps, ensuring that employee productivity is maximized and that a highly inclusive culture is fostered. You will be responsible for creating effective processes for recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention of staff. Your leadership will be crucial in translating our strategic goals into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in behavioral healthcare, affordable housing, and homelessness, and will possess the ability to lead and build teams with integrity. You will need to be organized and capable of creating structures that empower others to thrive, while also being adept at supporting operations and culture. Interaction with residents of St. Joseph's Commons may be required to assist in basic troubleshooting, making strong interpersonal skills essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving the organizational vision and operations strategy.
  • Expand the organization's behavioral healthcare programs.
  • Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
  • Oversee Front Steps' day-to-day operations and employee productivity.
  • Build a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and organizational goals are met.
  • Create effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention processes.
  • Ensure compliance with national, statewide, and local standards of organizations including CARF, OMHAS, and the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business administration, Public Affairs and Administration, or another industry-related field required; MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
