About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of New York Public Radio (NYPR) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing the administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the organization. The COO will work closely with the President and CEO to ensure the efficient execution of NYPR's mission and strategic objectives, overseeing various departments and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage administrative and financial operations of the organization.
• Collaborate with the CEO in setting organizational priorities and drive coordination and execution of those priorities.
• Translate strategy into actionable steps for implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, workforce planning, and annual operating budget.
• Oversee Finance, Sponsorship, IT, Human Resources and DEI, Legal, and Office Services departments.
• Play a leading role in convening NYPR's Senior Leadership Team and ensuring ongoing alignment and monitoring of priorities, goals and performance.
• Oversee employee productivity and build NYPR's desired culture and values.
• Ensure compliance with national and local business regulations.

Requirements

• Proven experience (15+ years) in progressive management roles within complex, medium-to-large organizations.
• Experience as a general manager, COO, executive director, or division manager.
• Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Experience in the media industry is a plus but not required.
• Advanced degree in business administration, non-profit management, or a related field is preferred.
