About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at LifeMoves is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization's operations and ensuring the effective delivery of programs aimed at ending homelessness in the Silicon Valley. The COO will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to scale operations, enhance program efficacy, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This position requires a seasoned executive with a strong background in managing complex social service programs and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Foster an inspiring and motivating environment for staff.
  • Manage agency operations in alignment with mission and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide effective leadership and stewardship across all programs and services.
  • Partner with the CEO to develop and implement growth strategies.
  • Lead teams to scale and refine sustainable systems and workflows.
  • Ensure the service portfolio is effective and aligned with the agency's mission.
  • Innovate and advance the impact of the LifeMoves program model.
  • Create team accountabilities and developmental goals for staff.
  • Amplify a client-centered learning culture and utilize data for decision-making.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive human resources strategy.
  • Ensure smooth operation of all shelter and service sites.
  • Streamline operations and develop data-driven systems for improvement.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions for operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations governing services and funding.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of executive level leadership in a complex social service or healthcare environment.
  • Proven track record of managing effective teams and scaling programs.
  • Strong business acumen and experience managing budgets in a government-funded environment.
  • Data-driven approach utilizing technology for infrastructure development.
  • Experience administering multiple service units across separate locations.
  • Ability to internalize and communicate strategy effectively.
  • Strong listening and strategic planning skills.
  • Direct yet tactful communication style with strong negotiation skills.
  • Team building and management skills with a focus on motivation and direction.
  • High energy level and a proactive approach to work.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
