About the position

AltaSeads Conservancy, founded in 2022, is an emerging and dynamic non-profit organization with a pioneering vision. Our mission is to facilitate the preservation, protection, and restoration of the genetic diversity of marine macroalgae (seaweed), which is currently facing multiple existential threats. To counter these threats, AltaSeads Conservancy is establishing a globally recognized seaweed seed bank. At the heart of our work is building an inclusive collection of biodiverse seed stocks, focusing on keystone species and high-potential seaweed farm crops, so that wild seaweed-bed restorers and seaweed farmers have a reliable source of "seed" in the future. AltaSeads' approach is designed to facilitate easy, equitable, and transparent access to our seed collection. Our ultimate goal is to harness the potential of seaweed to address globally significant societal challenges, paving the way for a more sustainable and biodiverse future. The Chief Operations Officer (COO) will take a holistic approach to the growth and management of the organization, in alignment with our mission to preserve ocean biodiversity for future generations. The COO will be an integral part of the executive team and will work closely with the CEO and CFO to develop and execute the organization's strategy and plans.
