About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at BLUE Missions will act as the Chief of Staff, collaborating closely with the CEO to oversee daily operations, implement strategic growth initiatives, and ensure effective program delivery. This role is crucial for achieving the organization's long-term goals by optimizing the organizational structure and supporting teams across both US and international programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and implement BLUE Missions strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and growth objectives.
• Lead cross-departmental initiatives to support organizational scaling and sustainable development.
• Manage day-to-day operations and drive operational efficiency across all programs.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Supervise and mentor key executive team members, including the VP of US Programs, VP of International Programs, VP of Development, and Director of Finance and Administration.
• Establish performance benchmarks and regularly evaluate team progress to ensure objectives are met.
• Work with the Director of Finance and Administration to manage budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation in alignment with strategic goals.
• Ensure financial health and sustainability by monitoring expenses, identifying efficiencies, and supporting revenue-generating initiatives.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks that could impact the organization’s financial stability and operational success.
• Design and implement scalable processes that support the organization's expansion into new communities and programs.
• Develop partnerships and networks that enhance BLUE Missions impact, collaborating with key stakeholders across nonprofit, private, and governmental sectors.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior operational role, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
• Demonstrated success in scaling organizations, with a strong operational and strategic planning background.
• Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
• Financial acumen, with experience overseeing budgets and resource allocation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, focusing on efficiency and operational excellence.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of fostering relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
