About the position

The Chief People Officer (CPO) at LifeWorks is a key member of the Executive Team responsible for leading all human capital and talent functions. This role ensures that human capital strategies align with the organization's vision and goals, fostering a high-performance environment. The CPO will provide expert coaching to senior leaders, oversee HR policies and practices, and contribute to strategic planning, all while advocating for employee well-being and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement HR strategies, practices, and policies that support the agency's values and mission.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices affecting HR functions and employee relations.
  • Represent the HR department on the Agency's senior leadership team and lead key initiatives.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and manage direct reports, including hiring and training.
  • Foster a positive Agency culture that promotes high employee engagement.
  • Lead strategies for employee recruitment and talent management.
  • Act as an employee advocate, anticipating HR-related needs and trends.
  • Conduct compensation studies and develop competitive benefits plans.
  • Direct the design and implementation of a performance management system.
  • Integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into the organization.
  • Oversee learning and development programs, including onboarding.
  • Manage HR systems and data analytics to support business needs.
  • Establish and lead the HR department budget for efficient resource use.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on human capital matters to senior leaders.
  • Counsel employees and managers on HR policies and employee relations issues.
  • Lead succession planning initiatives to build a strong leadership pipeline.
  • Create communications to engage employees and leaders.
  • Ensure HR department compliance with funding sources and accrediting bodies.
  • Represent the HR department at leadership meetings and communicate decisions to the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, General Business, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of generalist experience, including a minimum of 7 years of management experience.
  • Senior leadership experience highly preferred.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
  • HR certification preferred (i.e. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
