About the position

The Chief Project Engineer (Hypersonics) at Canvas will oversee and manage engineering projects for the Air Force at Arnold AFB, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This role involves leading engineering teams, resolving disputes, communicating project goals, and ensuring compliance with safety and technical specifications. The position also includes mentoring team members and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Lead engineering teams, assign tasks, and train new staff.
• Resolve disputes between team members.
• Communicate project goals to the project team and ensure understanding.
• Approve plans and designs, ensuring safety and compliance with AF standards.
• Develop project plans and schedules, assigning tasks accordingly.
• Analyze technical problems and develop solutions.
• Ensure projects meet technical specifications and safety standards.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to understand their needs.
• Mentor project team members and assign responsibilities.
• Provide technical support in collaboration with project managers.
• Conduct site inspections and supervise contractor work.

Requirements

• Subject Matter Expert in Arc Heater Testing.
• Working knowledge of Hypersonic weapon systems and military tactics.
• Prior experience in hypersonic developmental weapons or operational testing is highly desired.
• Aircrew experience is desired.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with advanced munitions and developmental test agencies.
• Familiarity with DoD advisory services.
