About the position

The Chief Reliability Engineer at Freeport-McMoRan is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and evaluating engineering projects and programs to ensure successful completion within budget and time constraints. This role involves supervising engineering practices, reporting compliance issues, and providing guidance on regulations. The position also includes managing contracts, contributing to strategic planning, and representing the site on various teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, manage, and evaluate designated engineering projects and programs.
• Supervise, enhance, and monitor designated engineering practices for the site.
• Report environmental compliance issues and recommend corrections to management.
• Supervise or review investigations and develop recommendations for engineering projects.
• Serve as Project Manager or technical expert on large/complex engineering projects.
• Provide guidance to site management on applicable programs and regulations.
• Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for services and equipment.
• Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for engineering areas.
• Represent the site on company-sponsored steering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and seven years of experience in Engineering or related field, including lead or supervisory experience, OR a Master's degree in Engineering and five years of experience with similar qualifications.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions.
• Skilled in managing large/complex engineering projects.
• Ability to develop awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training, and motivating employees.
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
