About the position

The Chief Security Architect will lead all cybersecurity initiatives for the NOAA Cyber Security Center, focusing on the design and implementation of cyber tools and solutions. This role requires in-depth knowledge of enterprise cybersecurity capabilities and various tools, with a primary emphasis on security operation center tools, log management, vulnerability management, and network security. The position demands strong leadership and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance the security efficiency of the IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Research new technical trends, products, and services to improve security efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineers, and system administrators to meet program goals.
  • Provide management, leadership, and direction to program engineering team leads and contributors.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all Cyber Security projects.
  • Work with partners to identify and document service level requirements in SLA documents.
  • Produce and maintain security architecture documents for operational, system, and technical views.
  • Analyze security architecture and document recommendations for data protection gaps.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures and decision analysis documentation as needed.
  • Coordinate application and platform upgrades with minimal disruption to IT operations.
  • Produce reports and dashboards based on defined measures and key performance indicators.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship and active Top Secret clearance required.
  • Master's degree with 15+ years of experience in IT and/or cybersecurity, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of experience managing the implementation and operation of security architecture and tools.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management roles.
  • 5+ years of experience with IT modernization.
  • Understanding of key cybersecurity tools and their deployment and execution.
  • Experience leading complex security infrastructure consolidation and modernization efforts.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with senior levels within customer organizations.
  • Experience leading high-performing multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Cyber Security Operations.
  • Active CISSP certification preferred.
