About the position

The Chief System Program Manager at Emerson's Semiconductor & Electronics Business Unit is responsible for leading sophisticated enterprise system program execution. This role focuses on ensuring that programs meet their scope, cost, and timeline goals, particularly in high-growth and tight time-to-market application areas. The Chief PM will develop, implement, and supervise project plans while driving internal alignment among business and engineering teams. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to build credibility and trust for effective collaboration with global customers.

Responsibilities

  • Create project plans that drive successful, measurable project execution.
  • Ensure technical feasibility, financial viability, risk assessment, and schedule are well understood by customers.
  • Identify and document market requirements.
  • Work with internal project teams to define technical solutions.
  • Create a work breakdown structure to plan budget and routinely reassess as needed.
  • Actively handle risks to identify changes and mitigation strategies.
  • Clearly communicate all schedule constraints and project achievements.
  • Act as the single point of contact for the project.
  • Develop project communication plans and ensure execution to the plan.
  • Effectively negotiate scope and schedule changes.
  • Accurately identify and communicate internal and external customer needs.
  • Organize and facilitate project reviews for key customers.
  • Influence others to ensure successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as manufacturing, R&D, operations, quality, and sales.
  • Lead project analysis on resource, schedule & budget planning and risk assessment.
  • Monitor and report out to customers on project status; raise issues when vital.
  • Evaluate changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of projects and drive decisions on these changes.
  • Collaborate with resource managers to ensure appropriate staffing on projects.
  • Drive process and tool improvement efforts.
  • Lead Early Access Programs and manage feedback mechanisms.

Requirements

  • PMI-ACP or PMP certification, or ability to attain one within 6 months of hire.
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience managing HW and SW project teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous exposure to National Instruments hardware and/or software.
  • Semiconductor industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of business concepts such as pricing, costs, margins, ROI, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
  • MBA.
