About the position

The Chief Systems Engineer (CSE) will play a pivotal role in supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA) by providing technical leadership and expertise in advanced space acquisition programs. This position involves direct interaction with SDA leadership, assisting in planning, resourcing, and prioritization of tasks, while ensuring effective communication with government personnel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, particularly in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering practices, with a focus on interface management and space systems development.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the development, integration, and testing of advanced space acquisition systems, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with mission objectives.
  • Develop and oversee Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), Interface Control Documents (ICD), and system integration strategies.
  • Conduct trade studies and provide engineering analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Manage systems engineering processes, including requirements analysis, interface analysis, system design, verification, validation, and risk management.
  • Utilize Digital Engineering and MBSE tools to model and simulate system performance and ensure robust mission capability.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and interoperability of space systems.
  • Oversee Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) activities to ensure system readiness and mission success.
  • Provide technical expertise in space acquisitions, system integration, and systems testing.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a technical field or Bachelor's Degree in a technical field with 3 years additional experience.
  • TOP SECRET clearance with SCI Access.
  • 10 years of experience in space acquisitions with a focus on development, integration, and testing.
  • Proficiency in Agile team planning, Digital Engineering, MBSE, and Modeling and Simulation methodologies.
  • Strong background in systems engineering, integration, systems testing, and development of TEMPs, IV&V processes, trade studies, and ICDs.
  • Expertise in conducting technical analyses and system evaluations.
  • Clear communicator with strong technical writing skills.
