About the position

The Chief Technology Innovation Officer (CTIO) of the Office of Digital Services (ODS) is a high-level executive role responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of statewide technology policies and standards. This position focuses on technology innovation, ethical technology solutions, and civic engagement within California. The CTIO will lead strategic initiatives aligned with the State's Digital Strategy and Technology Plan, overseeing the responsible use of emerging technologies and managing relationships with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Establish leadership and strategic direction in alignment with the State's Digital Strategy and State Technology Plan.
• Plan and implement statewide policies, standards, and procedures related to technology innovation.
• Oversee the responsible use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital services development.
• Manage civic engagement initiatives around State digital services and Open Source Technology.
• Communicate and implement statewide technology strategies and solutions with over 125 departments and agencies.
• Foster relationships with local government, higher education, and various stakeholders to support the Governor's Office initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven experience in technology innovation and management at an executive level.
• Strong understanding of statewide technology policies and standards.
• Experience in managing relationships with government and community stakeholders.
• Ability to lead strategic initiatives and communicate effectively with diverse groups.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with civic technology engagement and Open Data Programs.
• Familiarity with digital identification pilots and geospatial services.
