About the position

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Flagstar Bank is responsible for establishing and directing the strategic and tactical goals of the Information Technology division. This role involves partnering with senior leaders to maintain a strategic vision for technology, influencing business change, and overseeing the technology and data roadmap. The CTO is accountable for implementing a cloud-first strategy, managing incident and crisis management functions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all activities of Information Technology (IT) Operations including Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Engineering, and Service Management.
  • Develop and implement the IT strategic plan and provide updates to the board.
  • Assist with prioritizing IT needs across all areas and meet regularly with Senior Management to ensure goals are met.
  • Oversee IT governance including data security policies, vendor management, and compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare and manage the annual IT budget and deliver quarterly reviews to the CIO and management technology committee.
  • Manage staff performance, workflow, and employee relations, focusing on development and retention.
  • Implement changes in workflow or procedures in collaboration with subordinate employees.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent).
  • 15 years of management experience in an IT/Operations area of a financial services company.
  • 10 years of experience managing large cross-functional teams and influencing senior management.
  • 10 years of experience in a large bank with OCC and regulatory oversight.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent).
