About the position

The University of Southern California is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for its Administrative Operations and Auxiliary Services divisions. This visionary leader will oversee IT operations, program planning, and strategic development, ensuring innovation and operational excellence across the organization. The CTO will manage essential IT services impacting students, faculty, and staff, while upholding USC's high standards of quality and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and oversee IT programs, projects, and initiatives for USC Auxiliary Services and Administrative Operations divisions.
  • Directly or indirectly supervise all IT staff within assigned divisions, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee divisional budgets, ensuring responsible fiscal planning and adherence to financial objectives.
  • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and strategic plans to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external customers, addressing needs and resolving issues.
  • Develop and execute clear communication strategies that support divisional goals and foster strong relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; a combination of experience and education may substitute for the minimum education requirement.
  • Five (5) years of experience within a relevant business setting or university auxiliary service areas such as housing, dining, and transportation services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience within a relevant business setting or university auxiliary service areas.
  • Proven experience in IT functions such as software development, project management, technical architecture, technical support, information security, vendor management, and business continuity/disaster recovery.
