As a key member of the Leadership Team reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is accountable for the Epic Sciences' technology, science, and platform system. This system comprises blood processing instrumentation, image analysis, machine learning/AI, and workflow software, which includes laboratory information systems and partner informatics. The role also involves overseeing biological and synthetic chemistries such as immunocytochemistry, in-situ hybridization, NGS, and qPCR. Experience with liquid biopsy is considered beneficial for this position. The CTO will lead multiple teams, including Lab Operations, Platform Technology, Data Science, and Assay Development, to deliver against defined deadlines that directly impact the success of the organization. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and over 15 years of experience, demonstrating increasing skill and effectiveness in managing the research and development pipeline within an organization. This includes deep experience with design control, analytical validation, and creating and sustaining a strategy that supports Epic's business objectives. The CTO will also have experience with systems integration of hardware, software, image analysis/machine learning/AI, and reagents, as well as taking diagnostic instrumentation systems through 510(K) and PMA approvals. The role requires significant experience in leading image analysis and machine learning/AI teams to deliver products to the market, as well as experience in leading an organization through transformational growth. The CTO will be responsible for developing products involving immunocytochemistry, fluorescence labeling, protein-based assays, clinical or anatomic pathology, or molecular laboratory equipment. The position also demands the ability to inspire, grow, and lead multi-disciplinary teams to maximize efficiency, productivity, and career satisfaction.
